Sydney, Australia,
6 July, 2005 - Following a competitive tender, Australia
Post has selected Viewlocity’s Control Tower Platform to monitor the
delivery of barcoded articles (parcels) throughout the Australia
Post delivery network.
Viewlocity will provide Australia Post with one single
system to track all barcoded domestic articles (parcels).
“Serving over one million customers daily through
4,477 retail outlets, in addition to delivering twenty million items
of mail to more than 9.6 million delivery points and servicing more
than 15,000 street posting boxes, we have one of the most complex
supply chains in the country,” said an Australia Post spokesperson.
“We are constantly analysing and refining our processes, increasing
supply chain visibility in an endeavour to provide quality services
to our customers.
“With Viewlocity, in conjunction with its network of
technology partners, we’ll be able to increase this visibility,
enhancing our Track Event Data Capture and Reporting solution.”
This enhanced solution will:
“As the most commonly used supply chain in Australia,
Australia Post knows it has a universal service obligation to
deliver a quality, affordable service to all mail-using
Australians,” commented Fadi Geha, Viewlocity’s Asia Pacific
Managing Director. “This is why they’ve chosen to invest in
enhancing their existing system to provide a single point of access
for all queries dealing with barcoded articles (parcels) within the
Australia Post network.
“Implementing Viewlocity’s solution into Australia
Post’s operations will not instantly solve all operational issues
involved in mail delivery, but it will elevate the level of
visibility and problem-solving capability. This in turn means
Australia Post can continue to refine its services and remain a
global case study as a leading Postal Authority.”
